Designed for testing large ferrous parts such as pipes, dies, engine blocks and other items of sufficient mass to allow the tester's electromagnetic force to hold the instrument securely to the workpiece. Flat pieces should be at least 2-1/2" wide x 14" long x 1/4" thick. Cylindrical pieces from 1-1/2" to 6-1/2" in diameter, with a minimum wall thickness of 3/16", can be tested with the standard shoes supplied. The unit weighs 42 pounds and operates on 115 volt, 60 cycles, single-phase. This tester is set up for "C" scale only and is supplied with a new C diamond indenter, new C test block, wrench, and new Platt padded rolling case.
